North Carolina chauffeurs lost a Driver’s Privacy Protection Act lawsuit because they didn’t reveal accident lawyers who asked for cops mishap reports for the function of soliciting customers obtained “motor vehicle records,” the 4th Circuit said.The DPPA enforces civil liability on a person who acquires personal info directly from an automobile record, not on an individual who gets info that was simply derived from such a record, the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit said.An accident report isn’t an automobile record, the court said.The court
